Cowes is a charming town located on the northern coast of the Isle of Wight, England. It is renowned for its rich maritime history and vibrant sailing culture, making it a popular destination for sailors and tourists alike.
Cowes has a long-standing connection to sailing and yachting. It is considered one of the birthplaces of modern yachting and has hosted various prestigious sailing events for over 200 years. An iconic institution in Cowes, the Royal Yacht Squadron is recognised globally as a prestigious sailing club, housed in a grand early 19th-century castle at the entrance to the harbour.
The town is famous for Cowes Week, one of the oldest and most well-known sailing regattas in the world. This annual event attracts thousands of sailors and spectators, featuring a week of racing, social events, and festivities.
Available throughout the year for anyone simply wanting a fun day out on the water.
Join us for a days sailing onboard one of our yachts, based in Mercury Yacht Harbour on the River Hamble. You will sail over to Cowes on The Isle of Wight with one of our experienced skippers.
Enjoy lunch onboard or eat ashore in one of the many local restaurants. You will have time to explore Cowes High Street before setting off for the afternoon sail back to Hamble.
Either way we certainly encourage you to get actively involved but you are equally very welcome to do as much or as little as you want.
And whilst this is not intended to be an instructional day you won’t fail to learn something and certainly our skippers are all more than happy to be quizzed and help you in anyway they can.
